Cucumbers grow very well in hydroponics and are fast growers. there are almost 100 species of cucumbers with harvesting times from 45 to 65 days depending on species. Cucumbers should be picked while green and firm and when ripen they turn yellow and wrinckle and mushy if left to long on the vines. White and yellow cucumbers are an exception and are rare not normally found in store. Cucumber vines grow up to 18 feet and produce anywhere from 30 to 60 cucumbers per plant depending on variety. My favorite Female plants like the Picolino are self-pollinating and are large producers in hydroponics.
The picture to the left shows 10 Picolino cucumbers I picked all at once from a single plant that produced 53 cucumbers before I decided to plant another and was still producing.
